I took a moment today to peek in at the ambatchdotcom seocontest.
The contest has been running for almost 2 months now and has awarded 2 monthly prizes, one at the end of July, one at the end of August. Prizes were awarded to 3 top ranking sites.
As I was looking at the current results I checked in on the entry in 3rd position.this ambatchdotcom seocontest entry is being produced by Lisa Campbell. Lisa has won runner up prizes in both monthly awards, In July she took the second place prize and in August, the third place prize.
The first thing that struck me is that is unusual to see a woman competing in these contests. I spoke with Lisa and this is what she had to say about the contest.
“I’m somewhat surprised and amused that I seem to be the only woman in the contest. If there are others, they haven’t made it known that they are here. It doesn’t really matter one way or another. My gender has nothing to do with my abilities in SEO and Google couldn’t care less when it comes to where the sites rank in their results.”
Lisa went on to say that she feels that “SEO is part art, part instinct and part knowledge.” She seems to have a good grasp on the formula, she’s been in the top 10 since shortly after the results began appearing and has spent most of it in the top 3.
“I was in the number one position for about a day” she laughed, “but there is still over a month to go - anything could happen at this point but I’m doing my best to push my position up 2 more spots by the October 20th contest end.”
